We're Not Worthy

Feeling unworthy to be a leader?  Yeah, me too!  Why would God choose me to lead others?  I mean, I am my own worst critic and, knowing myself, I know I am not worthy to lead others.  This is not a self-deprecating statement.  It's just the truth.  No leader, great or small, is worthy to lead others.  Some leaders with a huge ego may think they are God's greatest gift to leadership the world has ever seen.  However, nothing could be further from the truth.  God raises up leaders for his purposes [Pharaoh, Nebuchadnezzar, Moses, etc.] in the secular world and in the sacred.  And He takes them down too.  So, why me?  I'm glad you asked!  Here are three great reminders why God has chosen me [and you] to lead today:
  1. God has chosen you for this moment in time [see Joseph, Esther].
  2. God has gifted you for His purposes.
  3. God has given His approval for you to lead the group or groups you are leading.  The fact that God has given His Spirit to live inside believers and to give leaders a grace (unearned favor) gift to lead proves that He has given you His stamp of approval.
However big, or small, the group you lead, do so in a manner worthy of your calling.  If you do, God has hinted through a parable of Jesus' to tell you, "Well done, good and faithful servant."  I look forward to hearing those words.
